The short version

First Day Sign is designed so the details you type into a sign stay in your browser. The current version does not require an account, payment, or profile, and it does not upload the name, school, teacher, age, date, favorites, or other sign fields to our servers.

Sign details

The editor creates the preview and exported files on your device. We do not receive or store the content you enter into the generator.

If you turn on Remember on this device, the current draft is saved in your browser's local storage. That draft remains on the device and browser profile you used. You can turn the option off or use Clear my data to remove it at any time.

Share-safe mode hides the child's name, age, teacher, school, and exact date from the generated sign. It is a convenience feature, not a substitute for reviewing an image before posting it publicly.

Technical data

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like most web infrastructure, Cloudflare may process limited request data—such as an IP address, browser information, requested URL, and timestamp—to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures. This technical data is separate from the text entered in the sign editor.

Images and brand assets may be delivered from cdn.firstdaysign.com, our Cloudflare R2 custom domain. Loading those files creates a normal asset request but does not send the contents of your sign.

To understand overall traffic and improve the generator, we use Google Analytics 4 with measurement ID G-9BET25JWQ5. Google Analytics may receive the page URL and title, referral source, approximate location, browser and device information, language, and session or interaction measurements. Google may receive an IP address when the browser connects; GA4 uses it to determine general location and discards it before the address is logged in Analytics. We do not send the text entered in sign fields or the files you export to Google Analytics.

Cookies and browser storage

We use storage needed for the site to function, such as remembering a language preference and the optional sign draft described above. Google Analytics may also set first-party measurement cookies such as _ga and _ga_* to distinguish visitors and retain session state. We do not use advertising cookies in the current version. Children

The service is intended for adults, guardians, and educators creating signs. Please avoid entering information you do not want shown in the final file or photo. We do not knowingly ask children to create accounts or submit personal information.

Data sales and third parties

We do not sell personal information. Google Analytics receives the site-usage measurements described above, but the current version does not send sign details to Google Analytics, advertising, payment, or AI providers. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services and use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on if you prefer.

We may update this policy as the product changes. The effective date at the top of this page will show the latest revision.
